CTAEX is a private not-for-profit R&D centre located in the south-west of Spain, backed by an association of SMEs, large companies and co-operatives from the agro-food sector.
The activities of CTAEX began in 2001, but the Centre previously operated as a R&D unit of the multinational company Nestlé. In 2004, the Ministry of Education and Science recognised CTAEX as Technological Centre (nr 80) and as Research Results Transfer Centre (nr 189). In December 2011, CTAEX was declared of public Utility by the Spanish Ministerio del Interior. And today, CTAEX´s more than 40 employees keep on working for the SME aiming at improving their competitiveness via transformation of academic knowledge into innovative technologies in a market-oriented approach.
