Identifying and planning trial areas in the vineyard

B.4. Adaptation of industries and implementation of the industrial prototype

estaquillado 3

The first week in September, research teams at the University of Burgos and Vallodolid, together with researchers from Uclés O.D, marked out the fields where trials are to be conducted using the new algae soil improvers.

So as not to interfere with the wine harvest, the application of the soil improver was carried out at the end of the season along with the usual crop treatments, where 40 hectares have been set aside to trial different doses and different rates of algae application, using traditional nutrient spraying methods, such as are currently used in the wine industry.

A quality control study was carried out in the month of July of the trial fields which served to collect and map data with which to analyze the effect of the algae based soil improver taking into account the heterogeneity of the soils themselves.
