FINAL EVENT OF RELEASE RESULTS OF THE PROJECT LIFE + SAVECROPS

Next September 10th, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the Spanish Office of Science and Technology (SOST), Brussels, the Extremadura Agro-food RTD Centre - CTAEX, organizes the final results dissemination event of the LIFE + project / ENV / ES000613 SAVECROPS: Polyvalent natural pesticides from local waste.

The project LIFE + Savecrops  aims at obtaining active compounds against a wide range of plant pathogens from certain agro-food residues such as garlic or broccoli processing as well as the residue generated in the production of cheese at dairy industries. In this manner, developing highly versatile eco-friendly pesticides that have been field validated through their employment at the three more important crops of the Extremadura region: processing tomato, olive grove and vineyard.

She holds a degree in Chemical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), with the specialization in Agricultural Chemistry (1984).
15 years experienced in Nestlé R&D Centre Badajoz as Project Leader in Food Science and Safety and Food Technology departments.
For 14 years she is R&D Project Manager in CTAEX, Agro Food Technological Centre Extremadura, in the Food Science and Safety Department, and Laboratory Quality Responsible of the Analytical Services of CTAEX.

Liaison officer between Fundecyt-Pctex/regional government of Extremadura and the EU for the participation to EU programmes and networks for R&D.
Degree in Political Science (IR & Public Policy) from the University of the Basque Country. He holds a Master in eurOpean Integration and EU Projects Management, and Executive MBA.
He began his career as an intern for the basque government with the management of the EU regional policy (cross-border and interregional cooperation) and the EU communication policy. He has more than 7 years of experience as a consultant for both public and private entities in the design and management of european projects.

PhD Agronomist Engineer by the University of Extremadura (Spain) and Associated Professor in the same university in the Vegetable Biology and Production Department, and is specialized in olive varieties characterization.
At present he is the General Manager in CTAEX, also he was Head of Research Results Transfer Office (OTRI) in CTAEX during for more ten years.
He has a great experience in communication, dissemination and exploitation activities, as well as in management of webs and social networks.
At present he leads and presents a radio program “health food”. He has coordinated numerous workshops, courses and seminars. He was also responsible for the Tomato Observatory and coordinated the First International Congress of Industrial Processed Tomato.

Graduated in Chemistry and Food Technology, Mr Ortega holds a Master in Scientific Research and has been working at CTAEX since 2009 as an R&D Project Manager in the Food Technology Department. Mr Ortega is also part of the recently created European Project Office of CTAEX as the department in charge of the promotion of European projects.

Marie has a large experience in coordinating European projects in the specific area of energy and renewable energy mainly from the policy and dissemination point of view in particular having worked for 12 years within Solar Power Europe (ex “European Photovoltaic Industry Association”). Marie currently coordinates the European Technology Platform on Smartgrids and helps ZABALA clients to present and manage the best way possible EU funded projects. She holds a superior degree in European Business Management from the European Business Programme in Madrid and Bordeaux and a Master in European Affairs from the Catholic University of Paris.
